Making a tasty dish and helping the local farmer or market gardener at the same time. That is what Danny Janssen hopes to achieve in the new season of his program Lekker van Streek that can be seen at Omroep Brabant. In the coming weeks he will cycle various routes through Brabant, which will lead past makers of regional products. And with that he comes up with new surprising recipes.
“We also put the spotlight on the farmer,” explains Danny. Nowadays people often complain that everything is getting more expensive, but according to him we often don’t look beyond the supermarket. “Get out of the city and into the country. See what you find in the province. Then you can buy things on the street for very reasonable prices.”
“We also visit a bakery with delicious sausage rolls.”
In the new season, the TV chef rides nine cycling routes, each time bringing a different regional product. In the first episode he cycles past a farmer who has leeks on his land. “We turn that into a savory leek pie. But we also visit a bakery in Heusden that makes sausage rolls. Delicious.”
The next broadcast of Lekker van Streek can be seen every Tuesday at Omroep Brabant TV at 5.15 p.m. and is then repeated every hour.
