The previous owners will not disappear completely, they will teach the entrepreneur the tricks of the trade this year. “He still needs to get better at carving,” explains Timmerman. “He is used to small cheeses, but we have much larger ones.”
Martin smiles again. “That’s right, yes. But it’s going a lot better now.” Timmerman and his wife will continue to support the young Meppeler this year at least. Even after moving the store. “It’s time to rejuvenate.”
Timmerman finds it difficult that he stops. “You build up a large customer base. If we hadn’t found a successor, the place would have had to close at the end of this year. Just explain to your customers where to get their favorite piece of cheese. Fortunately, the entire range will remain the same after the takeover .”
So no more worries. The couple can therefore fully focus on their passion, nature. “I don’t know exactly what that will look like yet,” says the cheese veteran. “Speaking for myself, I would like to go along with a forest ranger a few times. Not necessarily because I want to become a forest ranger, but just to see what it is like.”
The business will close on Main Street on July 1. A little later on July 6, Brinkman’s adventure begins at the Kruisstraat.
