What’s next for the Love Parade successor “Rave The Planet”? What should happen to the Berlin techno lindworm in July 2023? Will the move be larger in the preliminary planning – more decibels, more boom cars, which will attract even more ravers, including international ones? Is there a “back to 1997/98” when electro apologist Jürgen Laarmann exultantly proclaimed the “Raving Society” in view of the millions of people on the roadside at the time?
But first, 2022 will be processed. After critical voices with regard to the pop culture relevance (“Beer Bike Parade”), the apparently unintentional, presented proximity to Covid conspirators such as Cptn Future and the nature compatibility (“Tiergarten Killer”), the organizer team around founding father Dr . Motte (62) now has his own all-round exuberantly positive balance.
A report from the press office speaks of an “overwhelming success of the demonstration for the preservation and recognition of electronic music culture”. This “exceeded even our most confident expectations. According to average estimates from various bodies, we are now assuming around 300,000 participants.”
So much for the basics of the team. The police spoke of around 200,000 participants. Such open crowds of people cannot be precisely quantified anyway. In any case, it was quite crowded around the Victory Column.
Regarding the symbol from the lateral thinker camp that boss Motte had waved from the car, it says: “He only recognized hearts, the peace sign and the title “Freedom Parade” on the sticker and never made a questionable movement in it connected. He has already personally expressed his regret about this. Incidentally, Dr. Motte himself make a supplementary statement. For us, this “incident” is over.”
The action group “My Basic Income” meanwhile showed less forbearance. A statement shared last night read: “Raffle draw with Dr. Motte cancelled!” according to the headline. And further: “At the ‘Rave the Planet’ demonstration, at which we were also represented as ‘My Basic Income’, the initiator Dr. Motte bowed and held the ‘Freedom Parade’ logo to the crowd, which is evident in a video.”
Motte’s star role in the “basic income raffle” on Monday is history. “We are hereby canceling the raffle in order to give the processing process the necessary space. There will be a replacement raffle for the canceled raffle next week, Wednesday, July 20th. All ticket numbers that have already been assigned will remain the same. More information will follow!” Funny ravers and serious social policy remain sensitive territory.
Nothing concrete about the future of the parade, at the end of the text of “Rave The Planet” only this much: “It remains to say that we heartily celebrate the predominantly positive reactions to the successful demonstration and after the conclusion of the follow-up the planning for a continuation will begin in the coming year. We will provide any updates on this via social media and our website.”
