Connor McDavid, 26, last night became only the sixth player in NHL history to score at least 150 points in one season.

Edmonton Oilers skipper Connor McDavid led his team to a 6–1 victory over the San Jose Sharks. Senteri scored 2+1, and was chosen as the number one star of the game.
At the same time, McDavid broke the magical 150 point phantom line. The man has now scored 64+87=151 in 80 matches. McDavid’s previous record for points was 123 points.
In addition to McDavid, only five players in NHL history have scored 150 points in a season: Wayne Gretzky, Steve Yzerman, Phil Esposito, Bernie Nicholls and Mario Lemieux.
McDavid received a video greeting from the five after the border laundry was broken.
– It hit. It was a special thing for them. Hearing all five was great. It meant a lot to me, McDavid said to nhl.com.
The last time the 150-point mark was broken was in the 1995-1996 season, when Lemieux scored 161 points.
McDavid was the number one booking at the booking event in the summer of 2015. He has now scored 848 (303+545) points in 567 games in the series.
1,500 full points for Crosby
Sidney Crosbyanother generational talent, also broke a handsome milestone last night when he reached 1,500 regular season points against Detroit.
The Pens skipper, who scored 2+1, has now scored 550+950=1,500 in 1,189 regular season games. 14 players have reached 1,500 regular season points before Crosby.
– There are some milestones that have made me think about the achievement a little more. Of course I’m happy to be part of that club, but my mentality has always been to do my best and see where it takes, Crosby stated.
Only Gretzky (620 games), Lemieux (747), Marcel Dionne (1,078), Jaromir Jagr (1,165) and Phil Esposito (1,166).
The 35-year-old striker has been very effective this season as well, as he has put up 33+58=91 performances in 80 games. Crosby’s single-season record is 120 points.
Despite the cannon season, Pittsburgh is falling out of the playoff picture with two rounds left to play. The Penguins are one point behind the last wild card spots, where Florida and the New York Islanders play.
