Sony has announced on its PlayStation Blog the games that will be free for PS Plus subscribers in February. TECHBOOK has checked what the new titles are good for.
PlayStation Plus will launch in February 2022 with three games, one exclusive to PS5, one to PS4 and one to both consoles. PS Plus subscribers will be able to download the titles for free starting February 1st.

EA Sports UFC 4 (PS4 + PS5)
The latest installment of mixed martial arts simulation of 2020 is for all fighting fans. The action takes place in the largest and most popular MMA league, the UFC. Gamers can choose from the stars of the UFC or create their own fighter in career mode.
All in all, the developers have fine-tuned the combat system in what is now the fourth part and put together a game that shouldn’t just delight UFC fans. Clear download recommendation.
Tiny Tina’s Storming of Dragon Fortress: A Once Upon a Time Wonderlands Adventure (PS4)
The name of the game may sound like a cute adventure game. But with that “Tiny Tina’s Storming of the Dragon Fortress: A Once-in-a-lifetime Wonderlands Adventure” or as it is called in the English original “Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands” to do nothing.
Rather, it is an offshoot of the extremely popular first-person shooter series “Borderlands”, which shone with role-playing aspects. If you like shooters, you should give Tina a chance.
Planet Coaster: Console Edition (PS5)
“Planet Coaster: Console Edition” is a genuine amusement park simulation, which at its core is very reminiscent of classics like “Theme Park” or “Rollercoaster Tycoon”. So if you loved those games and want to play something similar on console, you’ve come to the right place. The great strength ofPlanet Coaster: Console Edition” lies in the attention to detail. Rides, booths and everything else can be designed down to the smallest detail.
Weaknesses show up in park management. So if you are primarily concerned with finance and management, you need a little patience. It’s easy to lose track and a lot of things don’t really make sense. Conclusion: great for builders, a flop for managers.
These games were free with PlayStation Plus in January
After two rather mixed months, the PS Plus offer started in 2022 with a few strong titles. These can be downloaded until January 31st.
Persona 5 Strikers (PS4)
Persona 5 Strikers is a spin-off of the fifth game from the popular “Persona”series from the traditional house Sega. While Persona 5 however, is a pure role-playing game, “Strikers“ get additional action elements. The game integrates hack-and-slash mechanics from the “Dynasty Warriors‘ franchise, making it a crossover of two well-known video game series. Next “persona‘ own, turn-based combat system, there are also real-time battles.
The Persona 5 Strikes story picks up where Persona 5 ends. The protagonist, Joker, returns to Tokyo to take a road trip through Japan with the Phantom Thieves. But the holidays soon come to an abrupt end, because unusual events haunt Japan’s cities. Players control the Phantom Thieves in real-time combat and can switch characters at any time to be prepared for any situation.
The game has received a lot of praise from critics for its action-packed combat, but the deep storyline is also often highlighted. The reviews result in an excellent score of 83 according to Metacritic. The user ratings are also at a high level with 7.8 points. Overall promises “Persona 5 Strikers” Lots of fun and a great soundtrack to boot.
Dirt 5 (PS4 + PS5)
The “dirt‘ series, originally an offshoot of ‘Colin McRae“ has become an important mainstay for racing game experts Codemasters. “Dirt 5″ is the latest title in the series and puts players back in the world of off-road racing. Take to the slopes in more than 70 dirt tracks from all over the world and iconic racing cars. Players can not only prove themselves in career mode and online, but also compete locally in four-player split-screen. There is also a Creator mode, with which you can create routes yourself.
The game has a Metacritic score of 79 for the PlayStation 4 and 80 for the PlayStation 5. Reviewers praise the fun, arcade-style racing experience, realistic sound and superb graphics. However, there is criticism for the mediocre off-road mechanics, which are somewhat weaker than in other parts of the series. This is also the reason why “dirt 5“Fails with the players themselves. Those looking for an extremely realistic off-road experience will be disappointed by the arcade style. The user ratings are correspondingly low with 5.2 points on PS4 and 5.6 points on PS5.
Deep Rock Galactic (PS4 + PS5)
After almost two years in the Early Access phase, the time has come. Straight to the PlayStation launch of “deep rock galactic Sony is including the game in the PS Plus offer for January 2022. It’s a cooperative shooter game in which up to four players must explore randomly generated – and completely destructible – cave systems. In the role of “space dwarves” you fight against crowds of opponents to complete various missions. In addition to main missions, such as digging for minerals, stealing alien eggs or recovering lost equipment, there are also side missions that bring extra credits. With it, players can improve their weapons, equipment and characters. In addition, there are experience points for leveling up the dwarves. Sounds like a mix “Minecraft” and “Starship Troopers” – what can go wrong?
Since the game is not available for PlayStation, there is no Metacritic score for that platform yet. However, if the PC version is an indicator, PS Plus subscribers can look forward to lots of gaming fun. On average, the title achieved an excellent score of 85 for PC. Above all, the coop gameplay with the good interaction of the different character classes and the randomly generated game world are praised. The “Space Marine Dwarves” are also popular with gamers, as the user rating of 8.2 points shows.

PlayStation Plus Collection free for PS5 customers
Since the PlayStation 5 has been available since the end of 2020, the PS Plus games currently on offer also apply to the new console. But Sony goes one step further and gives all PS5 buyers the Plus Collection with a total of 20 games, including some hits.
The collection is intended to provide a basis for owners of the new console, for which there are not many new titles yet. The games are available for free download and can be played as long as PS Plus is subscribed.
