Check of ten grand for JVZ after auction of star lunch voucher at CH De Wolden

A lunch voucher from restaurant De Groene Lantaarn in Staphorst, which was auctioned on Saturday evening at the Summer Sale, yields JVZ an amount of no less than 10,000 euros. With this amount, youth football Zuidwolde also makes the sport accessible to less energetic residents.

The sale of top-bred foals and sport horses during the Summer Sale is a tradition at CH de Wolden on the penultimate day. Every year, a lunch voucher from star restaurant De Groene Lantaarn is also offered for auction for a good cause. That was JVZ this year. CH de Wolden supports the club, because it also wants to make football accessible to children whose parents or carers are not well off. Those children would not be able to become a member of Youth Football Zuidwolde because of the costs. CH de Wolden wanted to do something about that, hence the auction of the voucher from De Groene Lantaarn.

There was a lot of bidding

There was a lot of bidding under the leadership of auctioneer Peter van der Waaij and it seemed that an amount of 1400 euros would be rejected. But at the last minute an extra fifty euros was offered and then the amount gradually increased again. At 2000 euros no more bids were made, reason to turn down. However, the 2000 euros were not over yet. Several people in the tent in which the auction was held thought that Youth Football Zuidwolde deserved more. Amounts of 500 euros were then donated by horse owners, entrepreneurs and other generous donors and the auction ended definitively at 10,000 euros. A great amount that JVZ can soon have credited to the account.

Less energetic

Board member Sjaak Pronk agreed after the bidding had ended. “This is great. Way beyond our expectation. It was already a surprise that we were chosen with our project to make youth football accessible to the less well off. And now this amount, great,” said the board member of JVZ.

Pronk said that only thirty percent of the youth in Zuidwolde participates in sports. “We hope to get more children to play sports with this campaign, because that is extremely important. And we as a football club are very grateful to the board of CH de Wolden for setting up this action. Wonderful”, said Pronk afterwards.
