Chechen leader Kadyrov not planning to succeed Putin: ‘I have the right to run, but won’t’ | War Ukraine and Russia

Kadyrov also took a moment to praise Putin. “After a leader like him, it would be almost impossible to run the country,” said the Chechen. He called the Russian president “a wise, farsighted, strong, talented, honest and decent man”. “Putin has all the qualities,” he said. Kadyrov says he hopes that the head of state will “live a long time” to carry out his duties. “And we will remain by his side,” he said.

Kadyrov has been the head of Chechnya since 2007, an autonomous republic of the Russian Federation located in the North Caucasus. Shortly after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February, the Chechen leader took an extremely pro-war stance. Nevertheless, Kadyrov also expressed a lot of criticism of the situation at the front. For example, a few months ago he posted an 11-minute video in which he emphasized that “changes must be made” to turn the tide of the war in Russia’s favor.

The Chechen also lashed out at Russian Colonel Alexander Lapin, who he believes was responsible for the loss of the strategic eastern Ukrainian city of Lyman. Kadyrov is also in favor of a nuclear attack on Ukraine. He is supported, among others, by the founder of the Russian Wagner mercenary army Yevgeny Prigozhin.

LOOK. Earlier this month, a bizarre propaganda video by Kadyrov led to great hilarity on the internet:
