SV Darmstadt 98 won the chasing duel at SC Paderborn in the 2nd Bundesliga and remains leaders HSV on their heels.
Darmstadt 98 won on Friday evening (September 30th, 2022) at the start of the 10th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga 2-1 at SC Paderborn and with the second win in a row pushed past the East Westphalians to second place. Paderborn slipped to third place after the second bankruptcy in a row.
Wild early stage in Paderborn – two hits, a missed penalty
The SCP opened a wild initial phase with the opening goal by Robert Leipertz (4th), who used a through ball from Maximilian Rohr from his own half and didn’t give Darmstadt keeper Marcel Schuhen a chance. Not three minutes later, Marvin Pieringer missed the great chance of taking a 2-0 lead, failed from the penalty spot due to shoes.
Darmstadt struck back: Braydon Manu (10th) scored the equalizer with a header after a cross from Tobias Kempe. Kempe was also the preparer for Darmstadt’s 2-1, Jannik Müller (24th) headed his free kick into the far corner.
The Darmstadt team stayed on the trigger as a result, repeatedly creating a goal threat. Paderborn had their strongest phase after the change of sides, but Darmstadt defended the lead with luck and skill. In the final phase, the guests were closer to the third goal, Paderborn ran increasingly hectic and in the end in vain – in the end there was a deserved victory for the Böllenfalltor team.
Darmstadt welcomes Dusseldorf
On the 11th matchday, Darmstadt is challenged at home against Düsseldorf (Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at 1 p.m.). At the same time Paderborn has to play away in Rostock.
