Chase for two in stolen car ends in mud

A man and a woman were arrested on Saturday evening after they drove a stolen car on the A4 and were spotted by police. Police initiated a multi-car chase, after which the pair fled the scene. The chase eventually ended in the mud in a meadow in the village of Heerle near Roosendaal.

The car was stolen in Roosendaal, the owner had reported it. The car was therefore registered as stolen. This is how the police discovered that the pair were driving a car that was not theirs.

On the A4, the police gave chase towards Roosendaal around nine o’clock on Saturday evening. The pair drove into a dead-end road in Heerle, rammed several fences and then tried to flee through a meadow.

Their car got stuck in the mud in the meadow, as did several police cars. The suspects attempted to flee on foot. The police managed to arrest a 27-year-old woman from Belgium near the car. A 37-year-old man from Roosendaal was caught a few minutes later.

The pair are being held for further investigation. This should also show whether the duo actually stole the car.
