Sprinter Devynne Charlton from the Bahamas has broken the 16-year-old world record in the 60m hurdles.
On Sunday at the 116th Millrose Games in New York, the vice world champion clocked 7.67 seconds, a hundredth below the previous record set by Sweden’s Susanna Kallur, who needed 7.68 seconds for the distance in Karlsruhe in 2008.
“I knew I could do it,” Charlton said of her record-breaking run.
