Charlotte Kool no longer leaves the Ladies Tour and sees the chance of a fifth victory lost

Charlotte Kool will not get on today for the last stage of the Baloise Ladies Tour. The cyclist from Kortenhoef, who triumphed in four of the five stages, fell ill last night.

The 24-year-old Kool started her impressive series of victories on Wednesday with a win in the prologue of the multi-day stage race through the Netherlands and Belgium. She then recorded three sprint victories in a row. Only yesterday afternoon she had to leave the stage victory to Lucinda Brand. Her competitor for the overall victory was significantly faster in the time trial. In addition, Kool tumbled from the top of the standings.

Kool, who rides for DSM-Firmenich, says through her team that she fell ill last night and will therefore not leave in the last stage. The final part of the Ladies Tour is a 121 kilometer ride with start and finish in Deinze, Belgium.
