Charles’ van destroyed with a sledgehammer: ‘I can forget the weekend away’

Charles Rijnders is one of the many victims of the vandal who left a trail of destruction in Den Bosch on Thursday night. The windshield of his van and his car were smashed. With a sledgehammer, that’s what this resident of the Derde Rompert in Den Bosch thinks. “I was actually going away for a weekend, but I can write that on my stomach. I had just finished my van, but unfortunately,” he says, disappointed.

At first, Charles had no idea what was going on when he heard banging in the street. “Big blows,” he describes. When he looked out the window, his neighbor shouted at him that the windshields of both his car and van had been smashed.

“I saw someone who was shocked by me and cycled away very quickly.”

His neighbor across the street, Mark Dona, saw a boy wearing a hoodie cycling away. He heard a few bangs. When he raised the shutter, there was silence for a moment, but then he heard another bang. It seemed very close to him. As if they were standing on his doorstep. “Then I went outside and saw someone who was shocked by me and cycled away very quickly,” he says.

On the street, Mark then saw the window of a car broken out. However, after he called 112, he saw that there were many more cars involved. Ten or fifteen. There is a large dent in the hood of his car. He’s really upset about it.

The trail of destruction runs through the city over a length of almost ten kilometers:
