Leclerc has had fifty podiums with Ferrari. The last one, second place in the Mexican GP, required strong nerves to keep Max Verstappen’s Red Bull behind but above all a great team effort, with a red car finally excellent in the set-up of the car as well as in the execution on the track. Let’s be clear, to win in Brazil, where this weekend the 21st chapter of a still very open world championship will take place, much more will be needed, even if the signs from Mexico City are a good starting point. Good news, in short, even if what really made the Monegasque smile on Thursday in Sao Paulo was something else: Charles will get married to his Alexandra, as announced by the couple with a social post. “It’s been a really special week – says the Ferrari driver – I’m very happy. Returning to the track, Leclerc speaks of “moderate hopes” ahead of the Brazilian weekend. “The approach – he assures – will not change. In the last two races the execution was the right one and I am very proud of what the team managed to do, achieving two consecutive podiums”. And, speaking of podiums, the Ferrari driver has never tasted champagne under the eyes of the very heated tortida of Interlagos. Is this the right time? “I hope so – continues Charles – this is a track that I really like, even though I’ve never managed to get into the top three. But I’m sure that if we do everything well this year we can do it. Then here, usually anything happens… so never say never!”.

But it’s not just about the stage result. Doing well in Brazil for the red team would also mean defending second place in the Constructors’ ranking from Mercedes, who are just one point behind the Scuderia. “It is certainly our goal – confirms Leclerc – considering our current performances, we are absolutely in the running to make it. But I want to be honest: even if we were to finish second in the Constructors’ Championship, it would not be a sufficient result for a team like Ferrari”.
