On the day before his coronation ceremony, the British King Charles III. again demonstrated closeness to the people. The 74-year-old took a dip in the crowd outside Buckingham Palace in London on Friday.

In honor of the monarch, people spontaneously sang the national anthem “God Save The King” when he appeared.

The king, who wore a dark blue suit, was accompanied by his elder son, heir apparent Prince William, and his wife Catherine. Charles turned to one side of the waiting crowd, William and his wife to the other. All three shook hands and willingly posed for photos with the assembled Royals fans. Queen Camilla, however, was not part of the party. After about 20 minutes, Charles, William and Kate returned to the palace.

In anticipation of the coronation and subsequent appearance of Charles III. numerous people have already gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in front of the palace. Some have been camping in front of the palace for days to have the perfect view of the monarch and his family on Saturday.

Charles III strives to make the British royal family appear closer to the people and is always looking for contact with normal citizens. Prince William and Kate visited a pub in London on Thursday to pour the first glass of Kingmaker, a beer specially brewed for Charles’ coronation. The glamor couple managed the journey to the pub in the lively district of Soho like normal people: the two simply took the London underground.
