Charges are to be brought against Melanie Müller. She is said to have shown the “Hitler salute” at an appearance seven months ago. According to the Leipzig public prosecutor’s office, the indictment is based on the fact that the pop singer “is said to have used symbols of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations”. This is said to have happened on the night of September 17-18, 2022. The 35-year-old performed there at an event in the trade fair city. The “greeting” is prohibited under Section 86a of the Criminal Code in Germany.
Müller himself denies the allegation, as “LVZ” reports. According to the industry magazine, her manager and partner Andreas Kunz is said to have emphasized that the Leipzig District Court has so far only examined whether the indictment is sufficient to open proceedings. “But we also look forward to a trial, as this will bring the innocence of the matter to light,” Kunz is quoted as saying. “Mrs. Müller has nothing to do with the right-wing extremist scene and continues to distance herself from right-wing extremist ideas in the strongest possible terms.”
