The charge against Hollywood star Alec Baldwin (65) for negligent homicide is apparently dropped. His lawyers say: The criminal proceedings should be discontinued!
This reports, among other things, “ ABC News“. In October 2021, there was a tragedy on the set of the western film “Rust”: Baldwin accidentally shot camerawoman Halyna Hutchins († 42) with a prop gun.
Baldwin was subsequently charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter.
Baldwin’s attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, said in a first statement: “We are pleased with the decision to drop the charges against Alec Baldwin. We encourage a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this tragic accident.”
A first court date was scheduled for May 3rd. However, Baldwin exercised his right not to appear at the preliminary hearing in advance.
The actor has always maintained his innocence. His family gives him the strength for what is probably the hardest shoot of his career. Most recently, he enjoyed some free time with his wife and children in New York.
On Thursday, Alec Baldwin (65) continued filming the western “Rust” under increased security precautions after a year and a half break.
After the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by a shot from Baldwin’s gun, the actor and the film’s armorer were charged with involuntary manslaughter.
