Chantal Janzen does not want to say whether she texts with Marco Borsato

Chantal Janzen went into a strange fit yesterday when she was asked whether she texts with Marco Borsato. “I want to leave it at that, but it is very tough.”

Nowadays, celebrities are terrified of saying something wrong, because your career can go fast these days. Questions about politics are not allowed, but they also hardly dare to speak out about topics related to transgressive behavior. Yet the stars had to believe it en masse at the RTL presentation yesterday.

Very sad

Because RTL’s annual press presentation coincided with the mega news about the prosecution of Marco Borsato, all celebrities present were asked questions about it. The result was shown in the evening in both RTL Boulevard and Shownieuws. Most people stick to generalities, a few get into trouble.

Chantal Janzen adds Boulevard first play a standard tune. “I got a message from someone that this was going to happen and the only thing I can say about it, which I think a lot of people will say about it today, is that it’s really sad for everyone involved in this.”

“Are you in touch?”

When reporter Lex Uiting asks Chantal if she is in contact with Marco, she shuts down. “Are you in contact with him? In the supportive form? Or in the appending form?”

Chantal then makes a retreating movement: “I want to leave it at that, but it is very tough.”

She clearly doesn’t want to talk about this.

Gerard candid

Gerard Joling, on the other hand, is a lot clearer. He says he has no contact with Marco. “I didn’t send any text at all. I think: in this case you shouldn’t do anything at all… I think there is so much going on in that man’s head and in the family, you shouldn’t disturb that. Just let it rest and wait.”

He doesn’t want to say too much about it either. “I heard it on the news, of course. I just hope… I feel so bad for his mother and his children. As long as there is no ruling, I am not going to make a ruling on it.”

Heavy message

Peter van der Vorst, the TV boss of RTL, is also shocked. “I think it is an intense message. I find it shocking. It took quite a long time. I think it’s sad for everyone involved.”

Beau van Erven Dorens: “It’s quite late. You don’t wish that on anyone. Not those victims and not him either. You would say: I wish I had come up with that six months ago.”

Carlo Boszhard: “It’s where it should be now, right? It is in the courtroom, with the judge and he has to say something about it.”

And Ruben Nicolai: “Let’s let the rule of law do its job, see what comes out of it and then we can say something meaningful about it.”
