It is more than likely that Erling Haaland will leave BVB in the summer. But what about an exit in winter? BVB boss Watzke made this clear in an interview.
Hans-Joachim Watzke, managing director of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, categorically rejects a change from star striker Erling Haaland this winter. “No, that is impossible,” said Watzke to the news magazine “Der Spiegel”. “Who gives up one of the best strikers in Europe during the winter break if they don’t have to? Borussia Dortmund is still represented in three competitions – and in those we want to compete with the best possible team,” explained the club boss of the second place in the Bundesliga.
Watzke admitted, however, that Haaland’s stay in Dortmund this season would not be an easy undertaking. “Of course it will be difficult to keep him. Nevertheless, we want to and will try,” said the managing director. Haaland is under contract with BVB until 2024, but can leave the Revierclub next summer with an exit clause for allegedly 75 million euros.
