It had been indicated that the clubs are now reporting completion: striker Jessic Ngankam (22) is leaving Hertha BSC and moving to Eintracht Frankfurt.
“I didn’t take this decision lightly, but I decided to take on a new challenge. Nevertheless, I will of course continue to follow Hertha BSC,” says Ngankam on his departure from Berlin.
Hertha sporting director Benjamin Weber would have liked to keep the striker: “It’s no secret that we spoke to Jessic a lot and for a long time and would have liked to keep him. Unfortunately, he made a different decision that we have to respect.”
According to BZ information, Hertha will receive a transfer fee of 4 million euros plus possible bonuses. Important to fill the empty coffers. Ngankam should be a figure of identification for the Berliners for the hoped-for return to the Bundesliga. The change was indicated when Ngankam did not go to the training camp in Zell am See in Austria with Hertha on Wednesday.
Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche says about the new signing on the Eintracht website: “As a young and developable player with great potential, Jessic fits in perfectly with our strategy. We are pleased that he has decided to join Eintracht Frankfurt despite other interesting offers. Jessic is a player who brings a lot of passion and power. We firmly believe that he is a perfect fit for our team and our club.”
Ngankam signs in Hesse until 2028.
Ngankam joined Hertha from Reinickendorfer Füchsen in 2006 and made his first-team debut in the 2020/2021 season. After a season with SpVgg Greuther Fürth, Ngankam returned to Berlin last summer but was injured in preparation. The two-time U21 national player made 18 appearances in the past season, in which he scored four goals.
