every few months cookie brand change for breakfast. I don’t know what I’m looking for; maybe I’m just running away. At the beginning, when I start with the new ones, I always think that I like them. I want to like them, because the effect of liking something is unbeatable. I take five in hand, smash them into the cup, and drop them, almost praying. This ceremony is part of the charm of breakfast time, as well as the fact that it occurs in silence and solitude. The spoken breakfast is a sign of barbarity, proof that families, even happy ones, carry frightful dangers.
