The little ones were excited and stretched out their hands: Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) visited the Eigenherd school in Kleinmachnow east of Potsdam for the EU project day on Monday afternoon.

Pupils greeted the chancellor in different languages – including Ukrainian. When presenting a student exchange project with the Czech Republic, Scholz revealed his sporting hobbies: “I row, but I haven’t done stand-up paddling yet.”

Afterwards he also met Ukrainian students behind closed doors.

At the EU Project Day, which has been around since 2007, politicians come to schools and discuss Europe with young people.
