An actress from Prenzlauer Berg was convicted for smearing paint on the facade of the Federal Chancellery.

On June 24, 2022, around 6 p.m., Irma T. (26) wrote the words “Nö zu Öl” and “Wo ist Olaf?” on a white outside wall with others.

In front of the Tiergarten district court, she presented this as a “performance” and referred to artistic freedom: “I stepped against the wall with a bucket of paint and a brush to rewrite my future.”

She wanted to protest against empty promises made by the “Climate Chancellor”. “There is no visible serious effort to do something about the climate catastrophe. I will do this again and again, fines don’t stop me.”

The public prosecutor applied for a fine of 450 euros (30 daily rates of 15 euros). Mild verdict: 225 euros fine (15 daily rates of 15 euros each).

The judge: “Fundamental rights are not unlimited either. That was community damage to property, a criminal offence.”
