Chanceless evening ends for Jong Ajax again without points

Three games played, zero points. That is the harsh reality for Jong Ajax this season in the first division. The U21s still took the lead at PhD student SC Cambuur, but then lost out. It became 4-2 in Leeuwarden.

Skye Vink, the son of analyst Marciano, made his debut in professional football. It was not what he had hoped for the 17-year-old. He had to be replaced after 27 minutes due to an injury. At that moment, 4 (!) goals had already been scored in the match. After two missed chances by the Frisians, Jong Ajax took the lead through Gabriel Misehouy. He brilliantly scored a long shot: 0-1. Cambuur did not give up and scored three goals in a short time. First it was Blaricummer Sylvester van de Water, who scored the equalizer. Two childish mistakes in the defense then made it 2-1 (Michael Breij) and 3-1 (Remco Balk). Ajax came back through Rida Chadid.

Both teams had opportunities to score more goals after the break. The biggest was for the home team after a foul by Tristan Gooijer in the box. Milan Smit stood behind the ball and hit impeccably behind Thom de Graaff: 4-2. In the remaining part of the game, Cambuur in particular had chances to take a bigger lead. They were not used, so the position did not change.

The Amsterdam youngsters will be looking for the first points of the new season in Maastricht on Friday 1 September. The kick-off is at 8 p.m.
