Manchester City became the champion by beating Inter 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League final played at Istanbul Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
Manchester City’s captain Ilkay Gundogan made a statement about the giant match.
“We are very happy. It is very difficult to put into words what just happened,” said İlkay:
“It was tough for both teams. We didn’t do our best in the first half. We hesitated. We knew we had to do better in the second half. It was probably a 50-50 game. We feel very lucky to have scored.”
“We made history here tonight. There was pressure on us, but this team is in the best position to handle the pressure.
We cannot describe this feeling. It is a great honor to lift this trophy in our country. In my life, I always try to do the easiest things on the field at the highest level. I try not to get too excited. Winning the trophy here tonight as captain is a whole different kind of pride.”
