Adnan Polat, who was the president of the yellow-red club between 2008 and 2011, made statements to the AA correspondent about the performance of the football team under the management of Okan Buruk, the resentment he experienced due to administrative absences, and the atmosphere of unity and solidarity that current president Dursun Özbek tried to create.
Stating that he was very happy that Okan Buruk was appointed as the coach at the beginning of the season, Polat said, “I am very pleased that Okan Buruk is the coach. Okan was in the Galatasaray infrastructure and we were recruited to the A team at the age of 16. He is like a son to me. I love him very much. He is also a coach. “I’d like to help as much as I can. It’s going really well right now.” said.
Referring to the fact that Galatasaray is a newly established team, Adnan Polat said, “A newly formed team needs to go through the first 10-12 weeks with minimum damage so that they can win the time to become a team. Okan Buruk has done this very well. Currently, he is 2 points behind the leader and It seems that it is on the way to becoming a team. Galatasaray fans support their team in a magnificent way and affect the process. If they continue like this, Galatasaray will finish the season at the top where it should be. Reminding that Chairman Dursun Özbek tried to remove the administrative discharge from the statute, Polat noted that the members of the general assembly accepted the previous discharges as non-existence.
Adnan Polat, emphasizing that the Supreme Court of Appeals also found administrative release unlawful, continued as follows:
“The issue of administrative discharge in Galatasaray started at the financial congress when I was president in 2011. However, the Supreme Court General Assembly later unanimously accepted it. This should be removed from the Galatasaray statute. This is against the law. He wanted to make a board, but he couldn’t do it because the majority could not meet. He will probably try again. This must be done. Administrative expulsion received a great reaction from everyone at that time and made us all very upset. It divided Galatasaray in two. Most people were offended by the club. “Sports clubs are in big trouble economically. Dursun President said that there should be unity and solidarity in the club in order to overcome this crisis. Galatasaray general assembly also showed common sense. Administrative expulsions were unanimously accepted. I think the right thing was done.”
