Villarreal (dpa) – FC Villarreal wants to play in the Champions League home game on Wednesday evening against FC Bayern Munich with a portion of looseness.
“It’s about enjoying the chance we have,” said coach Unai Emery ahead of the quarter-final first leg. Bayern are “of course favorites and an incredible team. We have to show our best side.” The Spaniards were even able to eliminate Juventus Turin in the round of 16.
Goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli was self-confident. “We always work with the same respect towards every opponent,” said the Argentine. Munich are clearly the favourites. “It’s definitely one of the best teams in the world,” said Rulli. “But we want to continue making history.”
Munich’s world footballer Robert Lewandowski can only be stopped collectively. “We want to pull together,” announced goalkeeper Rulli. “We want to act as a unit.”
