Champions League: FC Bayern first, Eintracht Frankfurt has it in hand & Bayer Leverkusen is shaking

frightening. Bayern practically only invested as much as they had to and repeatedly countered in a targeted manner. There was also half a B-Elf on the pitch, after all Neuer, Hernandez, Pavard, Müller, Sane and Coman were not in the starting eleven. At no time did you have the feeling that something would burn there. A class difference. One factor may have been the relegation of Barcelona from the premier class, which was already certain before the game, but there are still players on the pitch who have already won everything (e.g. Lewandowski, Busquets) and also many young world-class players (Dembele, de Jong) . No ifs or buts, in the Champions League you have to play with much more intensity, will and determination – it doesn’t matter whether you’ve already been relegated or not. Of course, it was also very amusing how the entire Camp Nou booed the Champions League anthem at the beginning. You would rather hear the anthem of the Europa League, as you supposedly have a much better chance of winning the title there than in the premier class. It is sad to see what has happened to this heavyweight of world football in recent years. I hope that this club will take the time necessary for a thorough renovation over the next few years, rehabilitate itself and hopefully be able to reach for the European crown again in the near future!

In general, the Bundesliga teams are playing very confidently this season. Frankfurt and Leipzig with great victories and also Dortmund and Leverkusen with statements. These are point wins against other top leagues in Europe and thus real location determinations. It’s a shame that Leverkusen’s premier class trip is over, but you should have done your homework against Porto. Games with Leverkusen participation always promise spectacle, crazy final phase. For Eintracht, on the other hand, everything is still possible. What a debut season in the Champions League and above all: what an exciting table constellation, everything is still possible! The Bundesliga clubs act absolutely on an equal footing with the clubs in the other top 5 leagues, and they know how to assert themselves brilliantly against Spanish teams in particular. Almost all direct duels won. Five wins and just one loss in eight games. Big class. Once upon a time, the Spanish teams were a nemesis for the Bundesliga side, a kind of kryptonite, that is no longer the case. It’s always excellent for the five-year ranking if you score points against direct competitors from the other top leagues, because you then take points away from them at the same time. Three Spanish representatives are already eliminated from the premier class group stage, crazy. For the big La Liga, of course, this is nothing more than a crushing disgrace.

It’s a shame that this beautiful and exciting season is interrupted by a World Cup in the rogue state of Qatar. I will still enjoy the 6th match day next week, but after that the football year will be almost over for me.

The analysis pope is looking forward to tomorrow, because that’s when things continue directly in Europe. Good night!
