The German volleyball champions BR Volleys reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League while in detention. Coach Joel Banks’ Berlin team also won the play-off second leg against former premier class winners Tours VB 3-0 (25:22, 25:18, 25:22). In the quarter-finals, Berlin will face the Italian co-favorites Trentino Volley at the end of February.
The Czech diagonal attacker Marek Sotola scored eleven points for Berlin against Tours, and the German national player Ruben Schott also impressed with nine points.
Berlin won the first leg last week in their own hall 3:1 (25:17, 20:25, 25:13, 25:22). The Volleys had previously missed out on winning the group and therefore missing out on direct entry into the round of the last eight.
