Munich (dpa) – Coach Jens Scheuer campaigned vigorously for more spectators before the first game of the FC Bayern Munich soccer team in the Allianz Arena.
At the press conference, the 43-year-old launched an appeal “to get hold of an online ticket so that we can fill the 12,000”. FC Bayern expects at least 10,000 fans in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday (6.45 p.m. / DAZN) in the 75,000-seat stadium.
“I’m really looking forward to it, I’m extremely motivated,” said Scheuer. In the duel between the German and French champions, the Bayern team will wear jerseys with the inscription “All Are United” and thus support a fundraising campaign for Ukrainian girls and women. Scheuer has to do without defense chief Marina Hegering, who also caught Corona in her rehabilitation after knee problems.
Paris prevailed in the group games – including against Real Madrid – with an impeccable record of six wins and 25-0 goals. For Scheuer the chances of the Bayern women are “50:50”. The second leg is on March 30th in Paris.
National player Linda Dallmann sees the match as a “huge opportunity to show a lot of people live that we can kick really well”. In the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt (4: 2) on the Bayern campus, only around 1000 spectators came. But Scheuer also warned his team: “If we allow ourselves to be guided by emotions, then it will be difficult because Paris have an incredible transition game.”
