After beating Rosengard, the Munich team want to get the next three at Benfica in the evening. Also to get a little closer to the goal of quarterfinals. Coach Alexander Straus believes “that we can definitely create chances”.
On the second day of the group stage in the Champions League, the FC Bayern women want to build on the 2-1 win against FC Rosengard. “We always want to win, no matter what game,” Sarah Zadrazil demands via the club’s website: “It was difficult at Benfica last year because they are a technically very good team. It’s Portuguese football – with technically good players. We have to go there, be confident, control the game and then we’ll take the three points.”
Straus sees his team prepared
With a win, the Munich team want to make them forget the top game they lost against leaders VfL Wolfsburg. However, head coach Alexander Straus does not expect an easy game against Benfica either. He therefore warns his team of the upcoming duel: “Benfica are very strong on the ball, but I believe that we can definitely create chances. It will be a challenge because they will attack high up. We have to be prepared for that.”
Important players are missing
With Guilia Gwinn, Sydney Lohmann and Hanna Glas, however, the Munich team is missing important pillars in the game.
The fact that some of them will be missing from the team for a long time hurts the team a bit, explains Linda Dallmann. “Because we have an enormous burden, we have a lot of games.”
