Champions Hockey League: polar bears go under at the end

The German ice hockey champions Eisbären Berlin said goodbye to the Champions Hockey League (CHL) on Wednesday evening (October 12th, 2022) with a high defeat.

The injury-plagued Berliners, who already had no chance of reaching the knockout stage, lost 2:8 (1:1, 1:1, 0:6) to Mountfield HK from the Czech Republic on the last day of the group match. Zach Boychuk and Matt White gave the visitors the lead twice more.

Grizzlies Wolfsburg Group Winner

The Grizzlys Wolfsburg, who were already confirmed as group winners and participants in the round of 16, finally won against TPS Turku from Finland 5:4 (1:3, 3:1, 1:0). Wolfsburg made up for a 0-3 deficit, Darren Archibald scored twice.

The Straubing Tigers and Red Bull Munich, who played their last group games on Tuesday, are also in the round of 16. The play-off duels will be drawn in Zurich on Thursday (4 p.m.).
