The Adler Mannheim celebrated another victory in the Champions Hockey League and thus reached the knockout round early.
The eight-time German ice hockey champion defeated the Rouen Dragons 3:2 (2:2, 0:0, 1:0) on Wednesday. Tyler Gaudet scored for Mannheim in the 52nd minute and secured the decision. Jordan Murray (2nd) and David Wolf (12th) had previously given the Eagles a 2-0 lead in front of 7,172 spectators before the French equalized with a double strike from Loic Lampier (16th/17th).
The best 16 teams from the preliminary round advance. After five matchdays in the premier class, the Eagles have four wins and one defeat. Finally, they will play against the Slovakian club HC Kosice next Wednesday. Before that, they were challenged twice in the league: on Friday against the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, on Sunday against ERC Ingolstadt.
