Champion Pirates cracks HCAW code: historic winning streak comes to an end

For the first time, HCAW has lost points in major league baseball. The team of coach Danny Rombley lost 2-1 to Dutch champion Amsterdam Pirates on Saturday. That means that after nineteen consecutive wins, the winning streak has come to an end.

In the first real test, it went well on Thursday for HCAW, which won 8-7 at home against Pirates. Yesterday, the Bussum-squad lost 2-1 in Amsterdam and therefore suffered their first loss. This afternoon, the league-leader won again against Pirates: 3-2. With that, HCAW remains in the lead with 40 points from 21 games. Pirates follows on four runs.

RCH won two encounters in the neighbor dispute with DSS/Kinheim: 6-5 and 8-4. On Saturday, the Haarlem-squad was too strong in Heemstede, 11-6. Thanks to the two victories, RCH is in a tie for fifth place with DSS/Kinheim, but the Haarlem-squad has played three games less.
