Champagne a volonté: Belgians have never bought as much champagne in 20 years as they do now | Inland

After a slight decline in champagne exports in 2020 (-1.9 percent in volume), a strong growth of 12.4 percent was recorded in 2021 (compared to 2019 – i.e. for corona). For the first time since 1999, more than 10 million bottles were sold (10.3 million).

This makes Belgium the fifth largest importer of champagne worldwide, according to figures from the Champagne Committee, a federation that represents wine estates and champagne houses.
