Challengers: film Luca Guadagnino, Zendaya, opens Venice 2023

Lor last year Luca Guadagnino has upset the Venice Film Festival with Bones and All. This year the Sicilian director will open the 80th edition of the oldest festival in the world (30 August – 9 September 2023) with Challengershis new film with Zendaya, as a former prodigy of tennis involved in a love triangle.

Zendaya and the new bob: one of the most sought-after inspirations on the web

A decidedly different topic from the cannibalism addressed in the previous film with Timothee Chalamet. Luca Guadagnino is increasingly projected towards a cinema made in the USA, and this time he has grabbed a top actress of the moment like Zendaya. Challengers will live up to Bones and All? At the end of August we will have the verdict. The spotlights will certainly be on the film which opens a historic edition of the Festival and will arrive in theaters at September.

Challengers: the plot of the film by Luca Guadagnino

After the disturbing and overwhelming Bones and All, Luca Guadagnino with Challengers leads us into completely different atmospheres, between golf courses tennis and competitive spirit following the protagonist Tashi Duncan (Zendaya), a former champion turned coach who admits no mistakes, both on and off the court.

Tashi trains her husband Art (Mike Faist), a star player coming off a losing streak. What will be the strategy that he will adopt the coach/wife to solve the fate of the champion? The story takes an unexpected turn when the husband has to face the exploded Patrick in an ATP tournament (Josh O’Connor), once his best friend ed Tashi’s ex boyfriend. Past and present, personal and professional life mix. Tashi becomes involved in a love triangle.
