At Hertha BSC, planning for the coming season continues despite the pending license for the 2nd Bundesliga.
As coach Pal Dardai confirmed after the 2-1 win on the last day of the Bundesliga soccer match at VfL Wolfsburg Stevan Jovetic leave the capital club. “We know he’s not staying next year. He has already given everything and helped. We can’t keep him,” said Dardai about the 33-year-old Montenegrin, who was no longer part of the Berlin squad on Saturday.
Also with a farewell to striker Dodi Lukebakio (25), which Dardai also waived in Wolfsburg, is expected. Among other things, Hertha has to achieve a high transfer surplus for the license to be granted.
Attackers, on the other hand, will stay with Hertha Florian Niederlechner (32), who only moved from FC Augsburg to Berlin in the winter. “We had several talks weeks ago, and they were very good. We screwed up. And I’m one of those people who want to try to make up for it,” said Niederlechner.
The start of training after the upcoming summer vacation will be at Hertha on June 26, as media boss Marcus Jung confirmed.
Whether Dardai is still a coach should be decided in the coming days. “Next week you’ll find out whether we’re going to continue working or not,” said the club icon about his own future.
