Four vans from delivery service Amazon were involved in a pile-up in Rozenburg this afternoon around 1:30 p.m. Things went wrong on the Pudongweg, near the transport company Kuehne+Nagel. That is two kilometers from the internet giant’s distribution center on Mactanweg.
A police spokesperson confirms the rear-end collision involving four vans. “An accident with only material damage,” the spokesperson emphasizes. A photo of the accident shows that the damage appears to be minor.

Residents of the neighboring village of Rijsenhout in particular experience a lot of inconvenience from the vans, which drive on Aalsmeerderweg and Bennebroekerweg, among others. The drivers ‘drive like crazy’, they have been complaining for some time.
Enforce priority
“It’s really getting too bad,” Else Nooter told NH. “The vans coming from the depot simply force priority on the Aalsmeerderweg while they have to wait.” Patrick Mesman can also talk about it. He was hit by an Amazon van last June at the intersection of Bennebroekerweg and Aalsmeerderweg.
Following a series of other accidents (not involving Amazon vans), the municipality of Haarlemmermeer decided to take action and restore the stop signs desired by residents at the intersection.

“It has become less so there since then,” Patrick told NH Nieuws today. “Also because they are no longer allowed to drive there,” he refers to the municipality’s urgent request to Amazon to have delivery drivers take a different route. “But in the immediate vicinity of the industrial estate they still drive – to put it bluntly – like retards.”
Nooter acknowledges that the traffic situation at the intersection has improved, but does see a shift in the problem. “Now I see them crossing the Rijshornstraat, but luckily they can’t go that fast there.”
