CGN Esports wins DACH Evolution Stage 1 in Valorant

Clean sweep to win the title: CGN Esports has won the first season of the year of the DACH Evolution. In the final of the highest German-speaking Valorant league, the Cologne team defeated Unicorns of Love 3-0.

“It has never been so nice,” said a grinning Benjamin “BennY” Domgörgen from CGN after the victory in the tournament stream. Before that, the team had achieved a real masterpiece.

Valorant: CGN dominates in the final against Unicorns

Against the favored UoL, CGN immediately took control. After victories on the first two maps (Lotus 13:9; Ascent 13:8), a real demonstration of power followed. With a 13:5 victory that was never in jeopardy, CGN secured the third map of the endgame played in best-of-five mode and thus the title.

CGN’s success is like a Cinderella story: The Valorant pros only qualified for the playoffs as the fourth-best team in the regular season. After defeating Mouz, the best team of the season, in the first round, they lost 2-0 to Unicorns of Love in the upper bracket final. The lower bracket, in which Angry Titans were defeated, made it into the final, at the end of which there was revenge with Unicorns.

DACH victory as an opportunity for the EMEA league in Valorant

For CGN Esports, the success not only means the first Valorant title, but also a step towards EMEA Ascension, the upcoming Challengers league below the Riot partner league. In this, the best teams from Europe, the Middle East and Africa duel.
