Cercle wins with one man less against a wandering AA Gent

After a series of missed Ghent chances, Cercle was allowed to rest with a 0-1 lead, but at the beginning of the second half the deserved equalizer came for the Buffaloes. It was actually former Red Devil Laurent Depoitre who brought the home team alongside, with his first goal in more than a year. Ghent’s hopes flared up again, but they were quickly crushed with the 1-2. Denkey appeared in the sixteen at the back of Matisse Samoise and without hesitation kicked his twentieth goal of the season into the net, which also marked the final score in the KAA Gent Arena, where there was a strong atmosphere of crisis.

Cercle, on the other hand, is racing along and is in fifth place with 39 points. The last two places in the play-off for the national title will probably be between Cercle, Ghent and Genk.
