CEOs Robert Gentz and David Schneider extend their contracts

The two Zalando founders and co-CEOs Robert Gentz and David Schneider have extended their contracts for another four years, i.e. until December 2027. The supervisory board decided this at its meeting yesterday. Other members of the Zalando management are Dr. Astrid Arndt as Chief People Officer, Dr. Sandra Dembeck as Chief Financial Officer and David Schröder as Chief Operating Officer.

David Schneider and Robert Gentz founded the company in 2008. Under her 15-year leadership, the former start-up went public in 2014 and has developed into a leading e-commerce platform for fashion and lifestyle. Today Zalando has more than 50 million customers in 25 markets in Europe.

In addition to the fashion online shop, the company now includes other business areas, including business-to-business offerings in the areas of marketing and logistics. Robert Gentz is responsible for strategy, technology and product development. David Schneider manages the marketing and growth strategy of Zalando’s business-to-consumer offerings.

“In 2008 we knew that the fashion world would change significantly and we wanted to help shape this change,” said David Schneider. “15 years later, the industry is facing the next turning point as consumer expectations have evolved in the digital age. It’s no longer just about good service and new standards, but about a truly inspiring and engaging experience that further deepens the relationship and interaction with our customers.”

Robert Gentz adds: “We are just as determined to implement our strategy as we were on Zalando’s first day. We will invest in future growth to improve our offering to existing customers, attract new customers and expand our logistics offering.”
