Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Alibaba Group Holding Limited has given CEO Eddie Wu additional responsibility.
On Wednesday, the group announced that, in addition to his previous duties, Wu will also head the Taobao and Tmall Group division as CEO with immediate effect. In this role, he succeeds Trudy Dai, who, according to press reports, will take on other tasks within the group. Wu was previously chairman of the group segment in which the online trading activities in China are bundled.
Wu, who has been with Alibaba since the company was founded in 1999, became CEO of the group in mid-September, succeeding Daniel Zhang. At the same time, he also took over the management of the IT services division Alibaba Cloud Intelligence. With the now announced appointment as CEO of the Taobao and Tmall Group, Wu is at the head of both the entire group and the most important individual operating segments.
