Profile jazz lover Gérard Brémond
Gérard Brémond himself will be the first to admit that no great jazz musician has been lost to him. Not that he didn’t try: as a student, in the embassy quarter of Paris behind the Eiffel Tower, he started his own band. His competitor: Sacha Distel, who until this year can be heard as a singer at the Efteling attraction Monsieur Cannibale. He never got that far, but after a failed musical adventure, Brémond became successful as founder, owner and director of Pierre et vacances, the largest holiday park chain in Europe. Now that that empire must be saved from destruction, it’s ‘adieu’ for the 84-year-old Frenchman.
