Central Groningen photo riot: political party BBB-LMG may continue to use Theo’s photo

The photo of Theo van Rosmalen may remain on the BBB-LMG website. That is what the judge decided on Friday.

Van Rosmalen was a member of BoerBurgerBeweging-Livable Midden-Groningen for a short time. Shortly after the elections, he switched to the Boer & Burger Party of Central Groningen.

Although he is no longer a member, his photo is still on his old party’s Facebook page and website. Van Rosmalen is not happy with this and demanded in court on February 7 that his photo be removed.

Controversial

BBB-LMG is controversial. Partly because the BoerBurgerBeweging of Caroline van der Plas broke all ties with the party last year. “I am looked down upon, some people no longer welcome me because I am associated with that party,” says Van Rosmalen.

Photos still on his own profile

At the trial, however, it turned out that he also had the photos on his Facebook page. Van Rosmalen said that he is not handy with Facebook. After the hearing, he took the photos offline.

But that was too late. Because, according to the court, why initiate summary proceedings to have photos taken offline if you publish them yourself?
