Minister Bruins Slot of the Interior and Kingdom Relations today sent the Annual Report on Central Government Operations 2021 to the House of Representatives. The annual report provides an overview of the national government’s organizational performance. In 2021, the government will actively look for sustainable, safe and new ways of working.
Towards a climate-neutral business
The central government has decided to introduce the CO₂ performance ladder in 2021. This means that all ministries will structurally reduce CO2 emissions. By providing more insight into our own emissions, implementing further CO2 reduction measures and having progress tested by independent audit parties. In 2021, the CO₂ emissions of central government operations fell to 337,013 tons. The government wants to be completely climate neutral by 2030.
Information security in order
In 2021, further work was done on a secure and reliable provision of information. For example, a procedure has been agreed for following up urgent security advice. A guide and software have also been developed for setting up a continuous vulnerability scan at government organizations. For 2021, each ministry has drawn up an in control statement or an information security image.
Hybrid working as a starting point
Hybrid working will become the starting point for working at the government in 2021. It is a way of working, in which employees and teams have the space to make conscious choices in how, when, with whom and where they work or collaborate. Central government is going along with the broad movement in the labor market, with more work-life balance for employees. The first agreements with a view to hybrid working have been laid down in the Central Collective Labor Agreement. Many meeting rooms have been adapted. Tools for employees and managers have also been developed.
For example, the government is continuously working on professionalisation in order to be a reliable, service-oriented and accessible government.
