Central Drenthe wants to end housing shortage: ‘We have to do something now’

Residential building Central Drenthe

The issue of social housing in Central Drenthe also played a role in the municipal elections in 2018. The alderman said at the time that the shortage does not apply to all target groups, but it does to some. That is why performance agreements have been made with Actium and Woonservice. A record has been made of whether the parties are also building sufficient social rental housing. Midden-Drenthe was seen as a shrinking municipality, but that is outdated: people are just joining.

For example, another study, this spring, showed that in the villages in central and southwestern Drenthe, 3,500 houses need to be added to meet the housing demand by 2030.
