The Nets lost steam after the timeout

Boston Celtics kicked off their ten-day tour away from the TD Garden this Sunday returning to the path of victory against the Brooklyn Nets by 92-103 in a game in which they only suffered during the third quarter.

Jaylen Brown signed a great encounter with 34 points and 10 rebounds while Jason Tatum he also stood out in Boston with 29 points and 11 rebounds.

In the Nets, the 31 goals and 7 rebounds Kevin Durant.

For his part, the Dominican Al Horford contributed 3 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists in 33 minutes for the Celtics.

Joe Mazzulla’s men arrived in New York after losing this Friday with the Miami Heat and with the significant absence of Marcus Smart, added to the already well-known absences of Danilo Gallinari and Robert Williams.

Ben Simmons was out of the Nets for the third straight game and he checked from the bench how they stopped Brooklyn’s good run at the Barclays Center, where they had six consecutive victories.

It was also the face to face of two of the best couples in the league: Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving against Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

Brown’s great start

The first quarter began with a partial exit from Brooklyn of 11-2.

Durant and Irving showed good intentions in their offensive contribution.

The Boston disconnect fixed itself, without the need to go through downtime.

Mazzulla trusted his team and started the scoring party with a defensive display from the Celtics to a 0-14 that did force Jacque Vaughn’s men to meet.

In total there were more than three minutes without scoring for the Nets, in which the Celtics set their high pace led by an inspired Brown who closed the first quarter with 20 points and 5 of 5 on triples.

The partial ended with 27-35 favorable to Boston.

The Nets’ defensive strategy went through try to stop Tatum.

But Brown’s recital forced them to adjust and that’s when Tatum came back with 11 points just before halftime.

Despite this, the distance on the scoreboard with the Celtics was never so wide that Brooklyn lost options.

A triple by Joe Harris tied the score at 48 with four minutes to go, but, as before, Boston’s response came with another 0-6 run.

The green team closed the second quarter better, expanding to 2-14 that left the score at halftime at 50-62 in favor of the visitors.

Boston not only maintained its scoring pace but also He recovered his best defensive version.

Just Kevin Durant, with 13 points, was a threat.

The Nets applied themselves on defense around the locker room and managed to modify one of Boston’s strong points: the high pace of the game.

The Celtics were uncomfortable for the first time in the game, attacking slower and with fewer possessions.

Consequently, his scoring dropped to 13 points in the third periodhis lowest mark in a quarter so far this season.

Their shooting percentages dropped as they watched the Nets, focusing their attacks on Durant, improve remarkably.

The forward added 12 points in the third period while neither Tatum nor Brown found confidence.

Despite this bump, the Celtics never lost the initiative in the light and closed with twelve minutes remaining with a 69-75.

The Celtics grew from defense, more aggressive, using their hands and recovering balls that turned into quick transitions.

Brooklyn’s turnovers and drop in free throws kept them from winning.

Thus, Tatum put the sentence at 1:43 to go with a triple that brought the score to 85-101.

After the dead time neither Irving nor Durant returned to the track and the Nets lowered their arms.

This game was the first of a six-game tour away from the TD Garden for Boston, which will visit Toronto on Monday and then face a trip to the West to face the Suns, Warriors, Clippers and Lakers. EFE
