In the current episode “Deutschrap Ideal”, the two Frankfurters spoke about right-wing comments on the net.
The Frankfurt rappers Celo & Abdi commented on “Deutschrap Ideal”, among other things, about right-wing hate comments on the Internet.
“Racism and right-wing thoughts have nothing to do with hip-hop,” said Celo. The “internet rambos”, who, according to the rapper, constantly complain that the duo often refers to their respective origins in their lyrics – Celo is of Bosnian descent, Abdi of Moroccan descent – did not understand hip-hop. “Rap is a biography, a report of yourself,” explained the 41-year-old. “Hip-hop”, Celo is sure, “is revolutionary. To be right is primitive.”
Already in a previous episode of “Deutschrap Ideal” the two spoke out against the AfD. The context: In May 2023, the AfD faction in Wuppertal picked up a line from the track “Neue Deutsche Welle” by the Berlin rapper Fler. “This is black-red-gold – hard and proud,” it says there. Fler then distanced himself from “nuts outside of the subculture” who tore his texts out of context. It’s a pity that his art is lost because of such idiots [der AfD] have to limit,” says Celo.
The musicians’ last record, MIEWAGENTAPE 2, is already two years in the past. The single “Besuchstag” was released on May 4th, 2023. Two months ago announced “Celo 385” and “Abdi Süd” that they are “secretly working on the album”. “We hid very disgusting things in the pipeline,” teased Abdi.
