In the North Holland region, the match between vv Winkel and vv Nieuwe Niedorp is the highlight of the year. Both sports parks are only a few kilometers apart. The rivalry between numbers eight and nine of the Saturday fourth division is great.
The two teams last played an official match against each other in 2012. That is why the tension in this derby was even greater than normal. “All the players know each other from work, the village or from football. You don’t want to lose this pot,” says Winkel chairman Aike Minnes.
Party night
To give the match a special touch, Winkel’s selection players organized a whole party evening. “We have arranged a DJ and a singer. It will be a big party and I don’t think I will go home sober tonight,” explains player Bob Schaap.
