“At first, José María Muscari told me that I was the nun of the show. I started dancing tango in a dress that reached my ankles, ”she recalls. It seems incredible that Celeste Muriega it was difficult for her to put herself in the role of femme fatale that she plays in “Sex, I lived your experience”, the work with which he is touring the Buenos Aires coast. Since he sets foot on stage, the audience is stunned by his performance. She acts, dances and sings, rattles the public and she even has a painting in which she remains naked and she does it with the naturalness of someone who has no doubts about herself. “But it was not always like this. All of us have something we don’t like, some prejudice. So, she thought: ‘I better not show this’, ‘this is better if I take care of it’. They are ideas that you have in your head. That’s why the director is key. He gave me the freedom to start more cover up knowing that he was going to get that big woman that was asleep from inside. And in the end it happened, ”he says in a chat with NEWS.
Muscari’s show became a phenomenon. It is an invitation to the public to explore eroticism and desire and whoever pays the ticket is not a simple passive spectator, but has the opportunity to interact with the protagonists. Muriega describes her incorporation into the cast as a process in which she also transformed herself.
Celeste Muriega: He had been doing many television programs such as “The Academy”, “Controversy” or “Intruders”. When Muscari’s proposal came first, it was to make replacements because it didn’t encourage me 100%. I accepted because I love challenges and new things, and then I began to trust myself more. The same thing happened to several of my colleagues. As performances progressed, I realized that on stage I could play and then one can transfer that to their personal life. It is a job, yes, but it is also a wonderful experience that marked me in many ways.
News: What do you think Sex brings beyond the show itself?
Muriega: It seems to me that it is great for opening heads, so that we learn to live sexuality in the way that each one decides to do it without being prejudiced or having to explain what we do in our private lives. This show breaks barriers, goes beyond the traditional because it gives you the chance to interact with the public. It is not about asking too many questions, but simply about normalizing what each one wants. We are deconstructing everything learned and the norm. It is still missing and we are in that process.
News: How do you feel in the role of the femme fatale? What is good and bad about being in that place?
Muriega: I do not deny. There are a lot of people who might be a bit annoyed because the role of the femme fatale pigeonholes you in one place. But the truth is that it opened me up to a lot of people. Still today, and unfortunately, many things continue to happen first through the visual and then they begin to value you from other places. So I understand that yes, it opened many doors for me and although I don’t deny it, I also like to show other facets of myself. Today with this show I have the chance to dance, sing and act. At the time I had the opportunity to host programs, to be a panelist and there are a lot of other things that also interest me a lot in the artistic universe.
In fact, the actress said that she is waiting for the days for “Pulsiones de Yamyla” to be released, the film by Demian Alexander, in which she starred in the story of a sex worker who is going through a series of personal conflicts. “There are six different stories. Mine is the last one and the cast is made up of top-level actors such as Roly Serrano, Vanesa González, Esmeralda Mitre, Fabián Vena, Mariana A, Carlos Belloso and María Rosa Fugazot. It seemed incredible to me to be able to play that role, embodying such a complex and hard life is something else”, adds Muriega.
In addition to his many facets, Muriega added a business side. In 2022 he launched his own perfume, “Our Red”, and is now preparing to relaunch it. “’Sex’ today is the main thing, but I’m very happy because I’m at a point where I’m trying to encompass different things,” she says.
Meeting. Muriega not only found a professional challenge in Sex, but also met her current partner there, Christian Sancho. “That is why I say that it touched me in many ways. I came from a year in which I did not give him much space to meet other people, to have an appointment. I didn’t feel like it, I wasn’t motivated and all my focus was on work, but it turns out that here I found the love of my life“, account.
The couple’s summer was more than intense. They came from a tour of the interior that was going to last two months and lasted six and, during January, they were permanently in Mar del Plata and with presentations in different theaters on the coast. To add up, on Saturdays they do radio together in Vorterix.
Muriega and Sancho’s became one of the most sought after couples by the press and the relationship progresses as they continue to work together. And, when she thinks about what she would like to be doing in a few years, the combination of her profession and family continues hand in hand.
News: How do you imagine at one time?
Muriega: With Christian we talked about the possibility of starting a family tomorrow. One never feels that it is the moment and for now we want to enjoy the relationship. In two years? In three or four? I don’t know how much, but I do imagine having children, although never without working. I fantasize about the idea of a show of my own that I can drive on. Work is something that gives me life and makes me happy. I always liked singing, which is a facet that I didn’t exploit much and it’s one of the pending things.
News: Do you have a relationship with Sancho’s children as an assembled family?
Muriega: We have relationship. What happens is that Camille, the oldest, lives in Spain so I still don’t know her. She was about to come and in the end it didn’t happen. She is studying and it is complicated, but we have spoken on the phone. I do know Gael, the youngest, and we have shared many beautiful moments.
Perhaps projecting family and profession hand in hand as part of a single plan has been something inherited. Before having her, her parents were engaged in the artistic world. They worked in magazines in Argentina and later toured abroad. When they returned to settle in the country, they set up a gym where her sister now also works.
Muriega: My father worked with many personalities with whom I was later able to work, such as Ethel Rojo, Beatriz Salomón, Moria Casan or Carmen Barbiero. He was also with Olmedo and Porcel in the most important magazines. When my mom met him, he also entered this world.
News: Did it help you that your parents have dedicated themselves to the same thing?
Muriega: When I was born they were already disconnected from the environment. But they always helped me by taking me to castings and accompanying me. Perhaps there are parents who limit their children when they want to follow a path and they always supported me. When I finished school I told them that I wanted to pursue a career as a musical comedy and dance performer and they took it very well. Anyway, It was a path of ant, of constantly auditioning, of receiving more no than yes. It was thirteen years ago that I did my first season and from there I never stopped. It was a tremendous evolution. When you put one hundred percent on stage and are part of the showcase that comes with being in this type of show, the proposals begin to arrive and you begin to be able to choose what you want to do, what is best for you and how to turn your career around. .
