He gave up his job as town hall boss nine years ago, but Klaus Wowereit is still the ruling party leader. At the weekend he celebrated his 70th birthday in a big way – with many prominent guests.
On Saturday evening the only thing on the agenda at the Bar of All Reason was: WOWI! Wowereit had already celebrated his 50th birthday in a big way in the revue theater on Schaperstrasse (Wilmersdorf).
Then, as now, admission was only for invited guests, many of them prominent or (once) powerful.
“Family, oldest friends, very, very good acquaintances,” said Wowi to the BZ Roland (who still knows the anniversary from Lichtenrade) had the furthest way to the party – he emigrated to New Zealand years ago.
Some people had a gift under their arm, quiz master Günther Jauch (67) brought a box of wine. As the owner of a winery, the TV star is ultimately at the source.
In theory, the toast could only start at midnight, because Wowereit was celebrating his birthday. Until the start of the new year there was a cultural program with the Pfister and Katharin Mehrling siblings.
On Sunday, sleep in and have breakfast, then pack your bags – on Monday Wowi flies to Mallorca to play golf. “My handicap is still 28.2,” he revealed to the BZ
The Berlin SPD has planned a reception after his return from his golf vacation (on October 15th at the former Tempelhof Airport).
